Born in the Bronx in the early 1970’s, Hip Hop had inauspicious beginnings. Focused on outdoor block parties and Rec center jams, originators like Kool Herc, Afrika Bambaataa and Grandmaster Flash could not have imagined that their passion would become the dominant  cultural revolution of our time.

Without the aid of the internet or social media Hip Hop quickly circulated, first throughout the states and eventually around the globe thanks to poorly dubbed cassette tapes and tattered magazine articles.

Fans took these loose treasures and used them as the foundation to build their own local scenes. Competition to be the best was imperative and each territory created something that was rooted in New York, but infused with local flavor.
